Dealing with a stressful sale is part and parcel of the job when working with buyers and sellers of businesses, especially with those who run a business and live on the premises.  In fact, these situations are generally noted in the top three most stressful situations for people; moving house and changing jobs.  The third is likely to be divorce and we will stay well clear of that one!

I feel privileged to be part of people’s lives when they are going through such an anxious time and be on hand to help and guide my clients through this stressful period.

So, back to the heading and the Power of Testimonials

Business owners are fully aware that good reviews are good for business, along with recommendations to others.  It’s probably one of the best ways to gain trust from those who don’t know you, your product or your service and good reviews help people to decide whether you are the right business for them.

I am no exception and in running BusinessXchange I have been privileged to work with some amazing clients and help them through the process of marketing and selling their business.  The sellers may be looking to retire or are moving on to the next chapter of their lives and the buyers are taking over a new business and looking forward to following their hopes and dreams for a life of self-employment and being their own ‘boss’.

Combine these two situations and I am very lucky to have worked with some truly fabulous people, helping them through what can be a stressful process and through to the completion of a business sale.  It’s after completion that clients appreciate the process and how we have guided and supported them.  This is when they put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) and take the time to write testimonials of the service they have received.

One such case has just occurred with a business in Torquay; the owners of Stover Lodge engaged me to market their Guest House and I have worked with them over a period to find them buyers.  We agreed a sale not so long before the ‘lockdown’ which truly put the cat amongst the pigeons – the market had to stop, the solicitors were working from home and on minimal hours, the agents involved in the buyers’ chain were working from home and the buyers and sellers of Stover Lodge were simply trying to keep it together, with my help, working through all the various obstacles that were thrown at us along the way.  And we did!  Now that the dust is starting to settle both the buyers and sellers have written glowing testimonials

Alison & David are now happy to retire after more than 20 years at the helm of Stover Lodge.  They were pleased to say:
